Migrate Flickr sets and photos to Picasa web

Before extending my Flickr pro account a few weeks ago for another year I was already thinking about how it might be replaced by something else. With the launch of Google+ and it's Picasa web integration it became obvious that Picasa might be this new service for me. So I did some googling today and came up with this nice guide to migrate from Flickr to Picasa without much to do manually. It worked like a charme on my Mac and pulled my 90 sets and thousands of photos from flickr in about 2 hours. I only have to change album dates manually now to make them appear in the correct order. Sets, tags, descriptions and location data are tranfered automatically.

I'm not sure yet if this will be the final solution but at least it worked quickly and photos are mirrored on another service now.

Push Messengers for iPhone

I've tested several push messengers like Ping! and Pushme.to over the past few days. Finally I tried Push Inbox which offers the best feature set for my needs: web > iPhone, mail > iPhone, iPhone > iPhone and it's possible to even answer web und mail sourced messages from my iPhone if a sender mail address is given. Up to 10 aliases like myname@getpushinbox.com can be used. Lifetime subscription is 0,79€ or 0,99$ at the moment. The Push Inbox app itself is free.

Besser bewerben leicht gemacht

Etymotic hf2 got a new plug

Today I received back my package from Etymotic Research via UPS. About 3 weeks ago I mailed them my Etymotic hf2 headphones for warranty repair. They had some cabling problems close to the plug making one channel failing entirely after one year of use. Inside the package I found a brand new pair with original wrapping and all the accessories. It seems to be cheaper to exchange them for new ones instead spending time to fix them. Nice one for me. First thing I've noticed was a different plug. It seems I wasn't the only one who had the problem and they have a new revision on the market. Below are photos of the old and new plugs. The new one look much more solid to me. p
